The Horizons at Colorado Academy (HCA) program seeks candidates for the position of Assistant Teachers for the elementary, middle school and high school programs.

HCA offers an enrichment program designed for Denver Public School students from under-resourced communities. The tuition-free program runs for six weeks from June 13 through July 22, 2022 and emphasizes academic enrichment, social and emotional learning, cultural experiences and the arts, and health and wellness – including swimming.

Assistant teachers support lead teachers, work with small groups of students, supervise numerous activities and other duties as required.

Requirements

Provide instructional, behavioral and emotional support to all students as they participate in all aspects of their summer day

Communicate effectively with the Horizons team, including the Lead Teacher, and other professional staff

Have prior classroom experience

Culturally-responsive teaching experience strongly preferred

Be available to attend the full 6-week program plus mandatory staff training sessions the week prior to program start

Bilingual is strongly preferred

Some lifting, sitting, and the ability to engage young children in their daily activities

Must be able to pass a criminal background check
